A Multi-Objective Roadside Unit Deployment Model for an Urban Vehicular Ad Hoc Network

نویسندگان

چکیده

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a type of mobile network that forms unified wireless communication between vehicles and roadside nodes. Roadside units (RSUs), as the infrastructure key component VANETs, play critical role in improving performance VANETs. Their deployment can effectively improve network. The goal RSU (RSUD) problem is to install few RSUs possible on both sides roads or intersections so they cover most areas achieve better performance. This paper proposes multi-objective optimization model solve RSUD using characteristics RSUDs urban roads. Our optimized target includes three indicators, which cost RSUs, their coverage area, communications. Since these indicators cannot consensus, this evolutionary algorithm, NSGA-II Pareto optimal solution, problem. simulation results show effectiveness method. Finally, we present an experiment featuring based real traffic environment uses OpenStreetMap; proves our proposed method practical.

Defense against Sybil attack in the initial deployment stage of vehicular ad hoc network based on roadside unit support

—In this paper, we propose two certificate mechanisms for preventing the Sybil attack in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET): the timestamp series approach and the temporary certificate approach. We focus on an early-stage VANET when the number of smart vehicles is only a small fraction of the vehicles on the road and the only infrastructure components available are the roadside units (RSUs). Un...

Improving Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network Stability Using Meta-Heuristic Algorithms

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is an important component of intelligent transportation systems, in which vehicles are equipped with on-board computing and communication devices which enable vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Consequently, with regard to larger communication due to the greater number of vehicles, stability of connectivity would be a challenging problem. Clustering technique as ...

Data Delivery based on Mobile Roadside Unit and with QoS Guarantee for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

The abstract Data delivery in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) has become one of the most challenging problems due to the rapid movement of vehicles and their bounded communication ranges. How to more efficiently transmit the sensing data about the region of interest to AP is discussed in this paper. Previous work hasn’t distinguished node types to forward data packet commonly, the delivery r...

A Time Synchronized Hybrid Vehicular Ad Hoc Network of Roadside Sensors and Vehicles for Safe driving

VANET is a type of ad hoc network in which the moving vehicles act as nodes. There has been lot of research for using VANETs in many applications. One of the main applications is the use of VANETs to improve driving safety. In any safety related applications, the vehicular nodes have to constantly communicate with each other and the roadside equipments. For e.g., the roadside units sense real t...
